Trinidad is situated in the central province of Sancti Spiritus in Cuba and is one of the oldest cities in the Caribbean. It was founded by the Spanish in 1514, making it one of the first seven cities in Cuba.

It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988 for being a colonial city with a well maintained architectural compound. It is one of the best examples of colonial architecture in the whole of Latin America.

As with many Spanish and Latin American cities, the urban life revolves around the city´s Plaza Mayor or Town Square, which is where the Santísima Trinidad Church is found. This church contains one of the most precious religious treasures in Cuba, the “Cristo de la Vera Cruz” and the marble altar dedicated to the Virgin of Mercy.

The Romantic Museum in Trinidad is found in the Palace of Count Brunet, which is one of the most important palaces in the city. The exhibition rooms display precious stones taken directly from the European factories during the Romantic era, among them crystals and porcelain.
Other palaces found in the city are the Cantero Palace and the Borrell Palace.

Near Trinidad you find Ancón beach, covered in fine sand and lapped by the warm Caribbean waters. It also offers a range of water sports. One of the favorites and most enjoyable is scuba diving. The beach offers more than 30 places where you can head underwater and see the varied Cuban sea-life.

Trinidad is a city that perfectly combines culture, history and leisure, all surrounded by the kindness and happiness that characterize this Cuban city. Every tourist or student that visits will enjoy a stay that they will never forget.
