Costa Rica is located in Central America, bordering with Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south-southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east.
Coronado is a green and sunny suburb located 10 kilometers outside Costa Rica's bustling capital, San José. Located along the southern border of one of Costa Rica's beautiful National Parks, Coronado is also within easy access of the capital, with buses departing for San José every 20 to 30 minutes.

Coronado is a municipality in the province of San José in Costa Rica ( Costa Rica is located in Central America, bordering with Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south-southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east) It was founded in 1910 and became the 11th canton of said province. It owes its name to the Spanish conqueror Juan Vázquez de Coronado.

Nearby are two important volcanoes that have transformed the area, the Irazú and Barva volcanoes. The territory is situated at a minimum altitude of 1335m above sea level.
It is a strong agricultural and industrial area in various sectors, including tourism, which includes a wide range of services such as banks, shops, restaurants, hotels, etc. It is also home to some important institutions such as the Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación en Agricultura(Inter-American Institute of Agricultural Cooperation), and the Microbiology faculty, among others.

As for tourist attractions, the San Isidro area should be recommended, which is the central region of the canton; particularly the Church of San Isidro Labrador (1928), which is neo-gothic in style and was designed by the architect Teodorico Quirós; the Town Hall, with its colonial baroque characteristics; and many Victorian style houses.

Ecotourism is very important in the area, since Coronado is found on the edge of the Braulio Carrillo National Park. It is one of the most important protected areas in the Costa Rican Central Valley.

The peaceful environment that dominates the area of Coronado, along with the quantity of services dedicated to tourism in the area make it a fantastic place to spend some time experiencing the culture and the Costa Rican way of life, as well as visiting the wonders that await you in Latin America.
