ACCOMMODATIONS

Carmen Rodríguez

"My colleague Caridad monitors the quality of our teaching at all the Spanish Schools schools. I make sure everything else runs smoothly as well.
The responsibility of accommodation lies with Spanish Schools schools. I check the accommodation facilities, solve any unforeseen problems in coordination with local staff, try to cater for special wishes from our students and have informal chats with to remain up-to-date and convinced that you are fully satisfied.
The host families and the owners of the student flats meet each other regularly at our schools. The results of these meeting and informal get-togethers often mean immediate improvements for you".

  Host Families

It is good to know that most of the host families have worked with us since the beginning. The families know from experience what the role of a host is. Accommodation in a host family allows you to get the maximum out of your course.
Nowhere else will you so directly experience real Spanish life. Nothing could be better to help improve your language skills. The word 'family' should not be taken too literally, because your family could also be a single parent who takes in students because he or she enjoys the company.
Sometimes there is also a Spanish student living with the family. You wouldn't be the first to go out together, or to keep in contact with the family after you return home.

ss Spanish Family

You can choose from a room with breakfast, half-board (breakfast and you can choose between a cooked meal in the afternoon at about two o'clock or light dinner at ten) or full-board (breakfast and two meals).
It is obvious that you will have to adjust a little to the rules of the house. Remember too, that Spanish people have different eating habits. Apart from that, you are free to do what you want. You will be given your own keys, so you can come and go as it pleases you. During your home-stay you will be able to receive phone calls.

  Student Flats

You share a student flat with four or five other Spanish Schools students. We always do our best to accommodate you in a student flat with different nationalities.
However, the common language typically becomes English. We suggest you to make an agreement with one another that you will speak as much Spanish as possible.

Spanish Schools Student Flat

The student flats are not very luxurious but they have all the basic amenities (a bed, table, chair and a wardrobe). Each student flat has a living room with television, a fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine.
In student flats there are no telephones available. You can make your phone calls from one of the many phone boxes.
You share the kitchen and the living bathroom and, together, you keep the house clean. Every week, a Spanish Schools employee cleans the common areas.

  Residence in Granada

In 1998 Spanish Schools started with the first residence exclusively for Spanish Schools students. Enabling us to provide even more quality.
You will live in an international group which will make your time in Spain an extraordinary experience. Watch out though! with so many nationalities all together, the common language quickly becomes English, French or German!

Spanish Schools residence in Granada

The residence, a restored hotel with a big terrace, is located in the city center, near of Spanish Schools school. Other amenities such as in-room telephones, a dining room with a smoking and non-smoking division, two living rooms (smoking and non-smoking) are equipped with TV and satellite dish, video and hi-fi.
You share a large kitchen which is fully equipped with all essential kitchen utensils as well as cookers, ovens, microwaves, electric coffee makers and fridges and a daily cleaning service for the common rooms by Spanish Schools employee.

  Practical Information

The secretariat
Every Spanish Schools school has a secretariat. Our colleagues in the secretariat also maintain contact with the host families and owners of the student flats. You can report all problems or complaints about the accommodation (or anything else you have on your mind) to the secretariat.
Sometimes one telephone call from them to your host family of the owner of the flat is enough to solve the problem.
Make use of their wide experience.

Important
We cannot emphasize it enough: accommodation is very important. No two students are alike, which makes it very difficult for us to give general advice.
Do you want to experience a host family, student flat and/or residence during your stay? Of course you can do this as well. Combining accommodation types does not involve any extra charges.
Take your time and make a sensible decision. If you want to discuss your accommodation with us, then please do not hesitate to call your local Spanish Schools office or agent. Spanish Schools provides objective information and personal advice.

"After going on 'Standard' beach holidays five years in a row, I really wanted something different. My friends looked at me a bit funny when I told them I wasn't going to Greece with them this year. Now that they have heard my stories and seen my photographs, they want to go next year as well".
